Engaging Families Through Student Voices

One of the ways that I connect with families is with an email from the students. Sometimes it will be all that I send and others I will add information that I want families to know.

During snack time, I will ask the students to tell me what things we want to share with their families. I will sit at my computer and type them out as they are speaking. Occasionally, I have to remind them of something that we have done but most of the time they have a good variety of activities.

I hope that this insight into the day helps families connect a little with their child’s life in the classroom. I do not pressure myself to do this weekly but I probably do it two or three times a month.

It’s sometimes hard to know what ways to communicate work best for families. This low effort one really works well for me.

Take care,

Tracey
