Finding Joy in the Classroom

I like to have fun. I like to laugh and find pleasure in what I do. I like to surround myself with fun people who also like to enjoy the lighter side of life.

Hard work mixed with laughter is what I strive for in the classroom. How can you mix joy with appropriate classroom management? Can’t it all run amuck?

I guess it could, but I think the key is to laugh at yourself. Give the students clear guidelines, routines to follow and procedures to ensure they know what is expected of them. When the students know what to do, they are able to learn and laugh along with you.

Homework:

  • Read funny books – to yourself & your class
  • Make silly voices while reading & singing
  • Dance
  • Swing on the swings with your students

How are you going to have fun today?
